Lakeside Community College
Program pages were brochures. Prospects still had to discover, on their own, how to apply, what it cost, and when the next term started.
The problem
Marketing, academic departments, and student services each maintained overlapping pages. A nursing prospect could find three descriptions and no application link. Faculty would not adopt a CMS that asked them to design a layout.
The approach
One program template: who it is for, where it leads, time, cost, requirements, and the next action. Prospects, current students, and employers get paths from the same record, not separate sites. Faculty edit fields. They do not edit columns.
Recruitment is a field on the program, not a campaign that expires.
What shipped
- A program content type tied to term, cost, and apply links
- Audience routes for prospects, students, and employers
- Migration of the catalog without a second source of truth
- A governance note marketing and IT both signed
What changed
Application starts from program pages rose because the action was on the page that created the intent. The committee could see, in the proposal, that year one would not rebuild the student portal. That exclusion kept the award inside the term.
